A dragon story

(Based on a legend from the Greek island o Zakinthos)

Once upon a time, there was a place with a big canyon, a cave and a valley. These places were once ruled by a dragon who was so big and tall so that he could step / lay with one of his feet to the cave (which was his home) and the other to the cross-mountain, and he could stand on his feet while he had the big canyon beneath him!

The dragon was very tall, thousands of yards but despite of this, he could sleep inside the cave. When he was hungry he needed a lot of food, which he preferred to take from a village in the valley. If the villagers didn’t bring food to him, he threatened them that he would destroy the village.

The villagers often used to gather so that they could find a way to destroy this dragon but it was impossible to find away to do this.

One day an old lady found the way to accomplish that. She gathered all the wheat from the fields, she grind it and turned it to flour, then she made a very big pie, she baked it and gave it to the dragon. Once the dragon ate all the pie, he couldn’t stand on his feet and he fell down to the valley, mooning so loud that the whole place was shaking.

Once the villagers heard the moan, young, old, men and women, holding rocks and vases into their hands, and from up high they started throwing them to him until he died and the village was free at last.
